Casa do Rio is perfect for a quiet retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of routine.
A large group of my friend’s with children booked this for our first visit to Portugal. We had the most amazing stay. Miguel, the owner/booker, made all of the arrangement for winery tours and boat trips. It was easy. The house was perfect for our large group. It had large inviting public spaces. A kids play table was provided upon request. The views were immaculate. The pool was clean. The night stargazing was incredible. The chef made amazing Portuguese dishes for us. We specifically loved the port braised duck and octopus. We closed each night of our stay with an amazing dessert and cafe. We are already planning our return.
Michael NovickI wish I could give 100 stars. Unforgettable experience. The pictures do not do it justice, the property is gorgeous. By far the best part of the stay was the hospitality and the meals. The staff were incredible – so kind, so attentive. The food and wine were superior – we couldn’t have eaten better. When we had requests the team went above and beyond. Truly the most magical vacation and Miguel was amazing. I would recommend it to everyone – an absolutely perfect luxury experience. We will be back!

Christopher ConnellThis house was a total dream come true for our group. We had 11 adults and 3 children and it could not have worked out any better. The property alone exceeded expectations, but then you add in the staff and support leading up to the trip, and I can’t even begin to express how pleased we were. Oh and the food! THE FOOD!!! We are already planning our next visit to Casas Quinta de Merouço!!!

Acesso ao barco a partir da casa, que maravilha de comodidade! Cozinha bem equipada. Pequeno-almoço Top! O Miguel muito acolhedor e estava desde a chegada para nos receber; a Susana foi muito prestável e afável, durante a estadia. Não podíamos pedir melhor localização! Para chegar de dia, para aproveitar o cenário que é maravilhoso. Gostava de poder repetir, um dia! Bem hajam.

Our host Miguel and his staff were magnificent and help create memories that will last a lifetime. No detail was sparred in assuring that our group of 12 had the best experience. The food prepared for us both at dinner and breakfast was equivalent to a 5 star restaurant. The residency was so beautiful and comfortable. Moreover, Miguel helped us arrange a fun day excursion every day and each of them were perfect. Thanks so much for a fantastic time.

Je nai pas l’habitude de mettre mon avis mais là, il le fallait afin de mettre en valeur le professionnalisme du personnel, qui en plus, est discret, à l’écoute et respectueux. Sans compter le talent fabuleux et exceptionnel du cuisinier qui a su ravir nos papilles en nous surprenant tout le long du séjour. Merci à cette belle équipe. N’hésitez pas 1 seconde, venez découvrir ce lieu unique qui deviendra vite votre 2e maison
Isabelle SiclierQuinta de Merouço was one of the most memorable vacation stays ever! I traveled with a group of twelve adults with two kids and everything was spectacular. The house is right on the river with a private dock. The pool and deck are perfect. And each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. Miguel was the most amazing host, arranging everything from ground transport from Porto to the house, restaurant reservations, winery visits, and more. He was communicative and was very upfront with any costs or expenses. One of our guests needed gas to fill up their car and Miguel helped arrange that as well. If you’re looking for a house to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the beauty of Douro Valley, this is the place! I cannot recommend this house and Miguel enough. Thank you Miguel and the staff for making our trip so memorable!

Les repas sont excellents, Adson a reussi à me faire manger des aliments que je déteste tel que des choux bruxelles, poivrons, gateau a l orange…La tenue de la chambre et salle bain : impeccable. On se sentait comme à la maison, j aurai plaisir à revenir. Merci à l équipe c etait genial
